Default Early stage tournament strategy

I just finished talking to my friend on the phone and we had a discussion about tournament strategy. My friend suggests that a player need to play super tight in the early stages of the tournament and in the middle/later stages reverts more to his standard ring game strategy in casino. Is that really correct? Doesn''t it make more sense to play a strategy more similar to ring games in the early stages of a tournament when the stacks are deep?

my 2 cents here.....
here you are at a tourney you have bought in been seated and now are waiting to play or are in the early stages, be aggressive! not stupid but get your money in call lots of hands while the blinds are cheap. attack the dead money and extract from the fish get your stack up. once all the fish are eaten and the dead money buried, the blinds are going to be eating at you now that they are bigger. if you dont make a stack early you moy not be in a position to do anything but play your cards and they may not be the best... but hey life hands you lemons... you know the rest. tight play when you have the best of it is reccomended because if you lose a chunk of money on a loose call it will be aginst you on your next attempt. never give away free money, be prepared to back up your raises and have no fear if you dont have the stone nuts and a stone bluff cant buy it theres always next hand... so id sum up that theres three stages; 1 aggressive- building at the start 2 tight-keeping your stackin the middle 3 aggressive- end play

I Think Playing Tight At The Begining Is Best It Gets You Farther Into The Tourny With Out Being Busted By Someone Chaseing A Straight Or A Flush.theres A Lot Of Players Who Like To Go All In In The Early Part Of The Game.no Matter What They Have. Its Sad To Get Knocked Out Early By A Bad Beat.

Any way I seen some good strategies articles here Poker En Ligne :: Index

I tend to just play Ace 10 or higher, any pocket pair I will limp unless it is over 77 which i will put a raise of about 3 times the BB.

Premium hands I would also raise 3x BB, such as AK AQ.
