Limit is gay. Period. Not nearly as much skill involved as NL... and plus you can't really BLUFF AT ALL....THATS NO FUN!

Yes I agree andy, limit does suck. the worst part of it is that everyone just chases and hits their inside straight draws or turns mid pair into trips or two pair.

For a while I actually did play limit, in an effort to build my bankroll up. I found that the best way to play was to play tight with an emphasis on big suited connecters and whenver you come into a pot you need to always raise pre flop, because all the bozos with 4 6 off suit will play no matter what it looks like for them pre flop.

i too agree with andy, if you are used to playing NL then switch over to limit it will seem very very boring...i tried it for a while and noticed the bigger stacks will call with almost anything up until the river card...

once the chip leader called my max bets every time with king high i ended up winning a huge pot with 2 pair , i guess thats good that you cant bluff...lol

i dont think im going to take up limit HE as a hobby but it was alright while it lasted...i still think its a step down from no-limit

its no use playing limit its really hard to win if you are a good pokerplayer, becase yo would have to bet whit any card you get, thats what ll the others do and , if you bet whit allmost every hand the odds are that you will have a winning hand pretty often but thats not what a good pokerplayer does you want to go whit good cards or when you get a good feeling but its hard to play like that when no one else does. and the worst part is that you cant bluff.

I've talked to a few pros who play both Limit and no-Limit they consistently say is that Limit is the game where you have to be technically better in order to win. To excell at Limit you have to limit yourself to the best hands until you can get a read on other players. You have to take the time to understand who you are playing. You have to know who will fold and who is the calling station.

In no limit, calling stations do not last long. You can play 2-7os and win, because you can use a stack as a weapon. Anyone who plays Limit for longer periods knows you can do this as well in limit.

But in the long run the calling stations lose all their money to the slow consistant, technically superior players. Once you know how to play, obtain the discipline to play the hands you should be playing and fold those you shouldn't be, then you will become a good limit player.

Right now, all the newbie money is going into the low Limiit No Limit games because of poker on TV. A few years ago it was all coming into the 1-2/2-4 limit games.

I personally don't think limit is worth the time.

Sure, everyone loves no-limit (me included), but the easiest money in poker is in low-limit fixed-limit games because people will chase chase chase. While the money is probably a bit easier in low-limit O8, this also applies to limit hold'em.

Limit hold'em isn't for everyone. You do have to be technically sound to play the game, and you also have to be extremely patient because you will most definitely take beats from the most random hands. You also have to know when to let hands go early, and be willing to stay aggressive even if the cards haven't been falling right for you. Most importantly, you have to exercise great care with your table selection and be sure that the conditions stay favorable to you. You'll get your ass handed to you one tiny bit at a time sitting at the wrong limit table, and that's a pretty horrible feeling.

There's a reason so many people grind out their bankrolls playing limit poker, and so many people go boom-to-bust playing no-limit. Learning to play limit poker well can be very profitable, and in the end makes you a much more well-rounded poker player.
