Heads-up no limit strategy I have a question regarding heads up play. This may sound weird but i doo very good against aggressive people, since i can put a better read on them, so i think my game against them is solid. Problems come in what are supposed to be easy opponets, passive - folding preflop a lot - playing only good cards - calling stations when they hit something.
If I try to play them aggressive the problems start that I get only small blinds, because they fold a lot. When they hit and we all know I can't hit every time, they will call me to the river and that is the usuall time I don't get anything or pair up with the smallest card. So basically they take the life of the game, play monsters, like they're playing a full ring game and i can't blind them out. Usual preflop raise I make is around 3xBB, folowed by a postflop 1/2 pot bet. If I miss and get called I know he connected, I can't put him on a hand, since these type of players only call and almost never raise (raises usually mean either aces, kings, sets on flop, flushes, straight... basiclly nuts or second best hands). They always end up with some weird 10 hand streak when they hit the flop every time and I miss it and i am shortstacked quickly. After that all-in is all I have and i know I'll be called by a better hand and I can't wait for aces or something.
When I try to play them passive, I usually have to wait to trap them. So this way I'm losing a lot of blinds, since they always hit the damn flop. And even with traps there is a good possibility that they will fold to my all-in without the nuts, because of their passive/scared style.
Every strategy I've read so far says that aggressive play is the right way to win at heads up. But I always do poorly against passive types. God I hate when i get aces in BB and they fold.
So what is the strategy u guys use to beat these type of players? And what gives me the best chance of beating them. I know I should probably stick to aggressive against them, but should I make the raises higher... lower..., put them more on all-in, any thoughts? |
