My record is like kaytmaty's, but extended beyond just my biggest win. For me as well, the largest single amount I ever won at one time came from a tournament in which I came second. My second largest amount came from winning a tourney, but my third and fourth largest were also the result of high placings, but not first.

I beat this fish named April that has a poker site here in Austin at a home game once. It was not a big win as far as money goes but it did establish my Blogger dominance!

Oh, someone thinks they're funny! I can't recall the game you're talking about though...I keep remembering a tourney where you went out within 5 minutes.... :P

I had 57 diamonds on the Button and it was $30 for me to get into the pot that was 3 way action with me. I flopped a straight flush with a 468 all diamond board. Opening bet was $125 into a $90ish pot and the next player to act made it $500 to go. I smooth called it and the original bettor flat called as well Turn was an 8 and the UTG player moved all in for his remaining $1100 ish and the other player called I moved all in covering both they pot was just at 6k.

hands were quad 8's from player one
full house from player 2 and

NUTS STRAIGHT FLUSH FOR ME ON THE FLOP

It also so happens this was the same week I took my biggest loss in one single hand losing $4k on a flopped boat I had AQ flop came AAQ I moved all in after we traded raises and reraises and was called by a player with AK he turned the case K (other 2 were mucked by other players) when we turned over cards the guy almost passed out and when the K hit he almost got knocked out.

The loss came 3 days before the win

I'm sad to say that the $75 I won in today's freeroll was the most I've ever won ... but I'm happy to say that by playing ring games I am now sitting on a bankroll of $237.70, and I've actually decided to stop, this amount being my high point so far!! I know I shouldn't talk too soon because I have a habit of losing lots at a time, but wow IM SO HAPPY!! I LOVE BLIND BET POKER... WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!

Talking

I just hit my biggest win, after moving to $1/$2 NL a few days ago.

*** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to FatTabbyMama [8s 9h]
G_Bread: calls $2
mikeymn: calls $2
FatTabbyMama: calls $1

Normally I would dump connectors in all but LP. I hate playing the low to middle ones. They're only good if they hit the flop just right. But, new thinking - I'll take 'em in the SB assuming no one pops it up after me. There is no shame in being the first to check a flop if the cards don't come right.

*** FLOP *** [Jc 7s Td]
Um...I check!

FatTabbyMama: checks
bailey8: checks
G_Bread: checks
mikeymn: bets $6
FatTabbyMama: calls $6
bailey8: calls $6
G_Bread: raises $14 to $20
mikeymn: raises $36.80 to $56.80 and is all-in
FatTabbyMama: raises $36.80 to $93.60
bailey8: folds
G_Bread: calls $73.60

At this point, I figure one of them for a set, and the other...my best guess is a draw. If KQ is out there, a 9 or an Ace is gonna hurt.

*** TURN *** [Jc 7s Td] [Kc]
Hope nobody has AQ...

FatTabbyMama: bets $4.55 and is all-in
G_Bread: calls $4.55

*** RIVER *** [Jc 7s Td Kc] [3s]

*** SHOW DOWN ***

FatTabbyMama: shows [8s 9h] (a straight, Seven to Jack)

G_Bread: mucks hand (7s)

FatTabbyMama collected $82.70 from side pot

mikeymn: mucks hand (QJ)

FatTabbyMama collected $181.40 from main pot

I was kinda proud of myself with that one, not that I really did much in the hand...

My biggest tournament win came from busting my FTP account the first week of October and being entered into the "Lucky Player's Freeroll". I had already cashed out over 2.5k from FT, and I knew that this site has enough fish to make it worthwhile. I came in 2nd out of 500, winning 1.2k.

My biggest win at a table came last week when I was sitting $5/10 and held pocket Jacks on the button. 3 limpers prompted me to raise it up to $65. SB folded, BB called, and 2 of 3 of the limpers called. The flop was J-8-3, with 2 clubs. BB bet 300, 1 of the remaining 2 limpers called, and I called, fearing the flush draw. With how often that junk hits, I made the incorrect move of calling. The turn was an 8, of clubs. I had made the nut full house and now the flush was out there. BB bet another 300, the limper went all-in, I raised all-in, and got called by the BB. BB had AJ, ace of clubs (Horrible Play!), and the limper had KcQc. I took down the pot, basically tripling up with my double up and the limper pushing 900. 3.1k profit from the hand.
