yes...slowplaying can make you lose good money...today i've got beaten by a royal flush ...that's preety ugly to see when the comunity cards are and you're holding an and the worst you can think about is a flush but you get busted by a royal flush...but this time i tried my agressive game so i was out...sometimes slowplaying works...i took a 90 $ pot one time by slowplaying a perect flop...
Q Q pocket and Q Q A flop..i got raised and reraised by A 10 suited so you must know when to slowplay...when you have the nut hand you can try to see if your oponents try to bluff you..

Cheers,
W13rd0W

Default What to do with AA depends on the table

If you play at a low blind table then you can expect them to be very loose and call with far more hands than a table with higher blinds. AA tends to be more profitable at high blind tables because you can call in early position with AA more often there. In low blind tables you must raise in early position to eliminate the field and only get the high hands with you to the flopp. If the flopp suits you then continue but if the flopp is three of the same suit and you do not hold an ace of that suit then you should be carefull.

I laff when people say " I always lose with AA ". I figure they just haven't played that much.. heck, I think I prolly used to say that...

I had AA 4 times earlier tonight, and won each time... also lost with AK KK JJ and a score of other hands, that I have won with previously.....

Just 2 cards... your image, play styles, chip stacks, position, pot size, antes, all that matters, no matter what two cards you hold...

more often than not i raise with aces first to act ..but sometimes when i play home games with friends i can see that they already have the chips in their hand to raise..lol therefore, i simply limp in..let them raise and when it comes to me i go over the top

if you know your opponent well enough that will work but i wouldnt try that in high stakes game

Im with you nicka. In homegames with not so skilled players whos reaching for their stack before its their turn and who gets all shaky. If i get AA and se anybody like that i will probably limp and then they will almost everytime raise. They have KK or QQ and you win with your ace.=)

Default Any one knows what Caro says?

In another thread, I talk about the Poker DVDs that Mike Caro "The Mad Genius of Poker" sometimes advertises during online poker events. In the ad, he has a very passionate snipit about how he thinks you should play aces from early position.

Has anyone seen these DVDs? Does anyone know what he says? He is the Mad Genius after all.

W13rdow, in my opinion that was a mistake. You can't make an agressive play when such cards are down and you only have a straight.
It was a royal flush what's beaten you but it could had been a flush as well.
So try to stay in the box when something like that appears.
Cheers to you too!

The way I play rockets is different all the time, sometimes I call the blind, sometimes I raise it twice the BB, or even three times the BB. I just dont like to play the same all the time and get predictable. I dont go all in initially, but I love to do it after someone reraises a big amount, thats when I will go all in.
The times I have been dealt AA I can probably say that I have lost with it about 5% of the time. I like the odds.

Default AA in an early position

I think it is funny when someone says they raise to get a read on someone. I have found in my internet experience that reading someone is impossible. The one rule that seems to hold true is the third raiser before the flop has a big pair. You can throw that out if they are on a short stack.

I always raise with Aces.

AA in 1st position, what do you do?

I love this question. First of all I will play it 2 different ways to mix it up. The first is to bet out double the big blind or if early and blinds are lower bet like 4x the big blind. The other way to come out with it is to just call and hope to get lucky. Later in the game I would be more likely to raise because I can get more chips if no one calls. Early in the game it would suck to win like just 90 chips with AA. So I like to do 1 of the 2 options based on the blinds, oponents play and chip stacks, and how many players are at the table.
