Default Satans River

So Im in a tourny with a billion people (freeroll), but its down to 31. Top 30 are in the money and I'm sitting tight with the 2nd highest chipstack. AA comes my way preflop, so I raise pretty hard....the one guy in the tourny who has more chips than me goes all in!

Well, Im not folding AA so I call, and see 10, 10....flop looks fine, turn looks fine, OH MAN THERES THE 10 on the river! yowch. I am eliminated 31 after playing for hours.....took a few nice slices of pizza to cool down off that one.

man that's bad...that's really bad...i hate when that happens...i played a week ago in a Qualifier for the 25000$ quaranteed on cd and the top 5 went into he final...i got busted on 6th place after a A K on my small blind...i raised minimium and the big blind went all in...he had pocket kings and the comunity cards didn't help me at all...

---------------------------------
i must post this...a 1500$ guaranteed 10$ buy in on cd poker...
i get K K in a late position...before it's my turn to act 2 other guys go all in...Guess what they had ... one of them had the same cards as me : KK and the other one had pocket A what are the chances...of course i didn't make any runner runners so i got busted..

Cheers,

Default AA not enough

Thats really bad luck but sometims AA isnīt enough to win but I think you did good calling, itīs good to take the risk on a AA but it is sometimes betrayal.

I've been in a situation similiar to that...

I was third in chips... chip leader went all in... I almost called with my KK, but, took a minute and realized, if I am behind, or he sucks out, then my tourney is over.. 3 or so hours wasted... We were also on the bubble, hand by hand play....

I folded... he showed 72(sooted), but, I was still glad I folded... couple hands latre.. I was second in chips and the bubble was busted... I ended up in 4th place.. 6 bucks cashed, and advanced to the weekly.

I think I would only call, that close to the bubble, if I had the ALL IN player covered...or, more often than I care to admit, if I were drunk and really didn't care..... ( I don't get that many chips tho, playing drunk, all too often, so, that would be rare.. )

all those bad beats are brutal, especially that last one, where i had the exact same thing happen to me, only with different cards and it was for less money. As for the first post, i see nothing wrong with your play, you have to play to win and if your not going to take at the worst, 80 20 advantages then you shouldnt be playing poker, if you win that hand you will probly win the tournament and you will be very very happy.

Bad beats are going to happen, and sometimes, they can feel pretty devastating or brutal or whatever other word you care to use. It's probably helpful to have forums like this one where you can tell your story and - most of the time, anyway - find some sympathy to help you get over them.

One thing that helps me a lot is never playing for money I can't easily afford to lose. That way, when I do lose, I can mentally write it off as the cost of entertainment, like renting a video - well, maybe a few videos, but you probably know what I mean. Still stings to lose when I was a heavy favorite, but at least I don't get upset because of the money.
