Default Big Slick (AK) theory

OK here we go, this is a difficult topic.........(referring to NL holdem)

AK is the most commonly over played hand in poker. The on that more people go broke or out of tournamnets with. THe tough thing to realize about this hand is that IT IS A DRAWING HAND! Can't emphasize that enough. Now granted poker is situational, meaning that in any given situation you can warrant going in with AK, because it is the most powerful DRAWING HAND. But in reality you are a dog to 22. About 1/3 of the time you are going to flop a pair (either an ace or king). NOW YOU HAVE A MADE HAND. Feel free to slow play, hammer, whatever, again poker is situational so your course of action from here depends on the pot size, number of players, and tyype of players. If you don't hit anything on the flop and someone makes a nice size bet at the pot, I see players all the time come back over the top hoping to force and get called by top pair. The next thing they know they are gone. THROW IT AWAY. This si advice from TJ Cloutier, the greatest tournament player of all time. You missed your hand, check it, if someone comes back betting throw it away. If you hit, you have top pair top kicker, do what you please. Just a little advice about the most commonly misplayed hand in NL hold em. Have fun guys!
