Personally, while I like to play hands like that, I would lay it down in this case. With such a large raise, and already 3 callers, it really isn't worth it. (Unless the blinds are bigger than i'm assuming) I'm assuming the BB is less than 50 chips, in which case i would lay it down. But if the BB is something closer to 100, then i would call, just because there are so many possibilities with a hand like that

If I was playing with a group of friends and was drunk I would definitely make the callbut if I was sober with this being early in the game and the blinds being small I would never make the call. This hand is a long shot drawing hand and is worthy of a bet of 1x or2xBB at most. The reason there are so many bad beats is that people actually believe that this is a good hand to play for 15% of your chips early in a game.

I agree with UofTNick. Depending on how much I already had in because of being the big blind, I might call just to see what the flop is. But if I only had 50 or so in, I couldn't get away from this hand fast enough. It's the kind of hand that can suck you in--maybe you pick up 1 or 2 more clubs, and you have to pay to stay in. Or you make a pair, and think maybe you'll catch trips. I'm not crazy about chasing a hand, especially if the other players all stay in. Chances are one of them will have you beat.

I cant see this call happening unless another person calls to see the flop. Because 89 suited vs a higher pocket pair has roughly 23% chance of beating it which happens to be one of the best hands to actually beat out a higher pocket pair. And since 3 people have called to see the flop your putting in 200 to try to win 600, so your looking at getting 3/1 to your money but so a third is 33.3333% which isnt quite what your hand can take. But if another person called your now putting in 200 to win 800, which becomes a 4/1 on your money and gives you a 25% chance to win the pot. And your hand at best has 23% chance to win the hand your getting the right odds to see that flop. So I could only see a call happening for this flop if another person jumps on it. If you make calls like this with only 3 people in there eventually you'll wind up losing a lot more than your winning.

Mike Caro's idea with suited connectors is try to get in cheaply as possible. And if you don't hit the flop prepare to fold. I would raise to protect my hand or fold.
