Default The art of check raising

Check raising is done for two reasons: to either represent a very strong hand, for check raising is more a sign of a huge hand than just betting,
or to drive out other players who might have stayed for an intial bet but would fold to a raise and a reraise.

When check-raising you have to be sure that someone will bet. If there is a pre-flop raiser, this player will usually bet routinely on the flop, too. Furthermore, if the flop brings a big card - especially an A - it is very probable that it fits someone's pocket hand and he will bet. The bettor's position is important, too. If you want to get more money into the pot, the bettor must sit directly next to you so that the opponents have to call one bet two times and don't fold. Provided, of course, that the bettor won't re-raise. If you intend to force players out, the bettor must sit in last position (bet directly before you) so that you get the raise immediately after him and the opponents should pay two bets at the same time, don't get correct pot odds, and have to fold.

I really am not sure if i can type enoug of these to make ti to the freeroll this weekend. lol

I prefer, min bet/reraise.

limp in with a kill hand.. top 3 premium... reraise the raiser.... sends a strong msg... if he calls, he is eithre dumb, or has a killer hand as well, most likely the lattre... if he rereraises... then you get to do the stare down.....but likely, its a small pocket pair he is gambling with...

i think, the greatest time to pull a check raise, is when the river is dealt. When you see the cards there, and you know you have him beat. To see someone put all their chips on the line hoping to steal a pot and you know you played it so well that there is no way they are putting you on the nut flush or the nut fullhouse; that is the greatest prize possible.

Default check raise

depends when u check raise. probably better to do it on the turn or the river. if u do it on the flop ur more likely to get called if your check raise is a bluff cos they will call if they r on a draw. if on the turn or river they are less likely to call if they dont have the pot odds, unless they have already made their draw.

Check raising is my favorite aspect of the entire game. Today, I played one of the best hands of poker ever and I still lost. I bet aggressively on a flush draw while another guy simply had pocket 4s... and he continued to call my bets. I caught my ace high flush on the turn and checked immediately. He raised bigtime and I went over the top(ALL IN). He flips over a full house, 4s full of kings. I'm devistated but i know that i couldnt have played the hand any better than that. Sometimes in poker, you can play to the best of your ability, and still lose the hand It's not like any other game where you if you play to your full potential, you will win, in poker, there is a thing called LuCk
Sometimes luck is my friend, sometimes it's my enemy. I wish it would befriend me more often though

andy that is why everyone loves to play the crazy games we call poker cause its the truth that anyone in the whole world can at least win a tourney because of the great thing called luck. without luck i would never lose but without it absolutely anyone can win. that is what seperates this sport from anyother sport in the whole wide world and thats why it has gotten so popular so quickely lately. for example the main event went from 800 people in 2003 to 2500 in 2005 and now or this year the world series of poker main event has just under 6000 people with winner getting a even 7.5 million dollars in cold hard cash. thanks

Default loving it

When i get a strong hand in the flop I tend to check so that someone that caught something bets and I can raise his bet, or just call making him think i am fishing cards, and sometimes this makes them bet more trying to make me fold. I donīt know how to explain it well hope you understood, but I love when something like this happens and the opponent falls in the trap.

mildseven,
Regnum Christi
