Default Poll: Table Reputation

hey guys, just a thought what do guys think is a better reputation at the poker table....

1) tight player, waits for monsters (grinder)

2) loose player loves the action... plays anyhand

3) amateur..get very little respect

4) pro ...earn alot of respect ..feared at the table

personally i like number 2 and 4..number 2 because alot of pots can be won just from others thinking your bluffing when your not... and number 4 because its a really good thing to be feared at the table ..for example look at players like Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson, imagine sitting next to one of them ... i dont know about you but i'd be very intimidated ............

I choose number 5... Totally unpredictable maniac. If you can get other players on tilt, show your bluffs, and still have respect. That would be the greatest combination. But since number 5 doesn't exist.. i'd choose 4.

but there are times, when im shortstack.. and i have no choice but to just grind and play tight. for one to choose a single playing style through an entire game would be silly.

the best way to cash out huge on tables, is to have a playing style from each other the above. one, two, three and four. Because if you can manage to play unpredictable, you can gain respect or be feared.

I would prefer number four. I think you should start of as a tight player and show the monsters every time you win cause you will realy benefit from that later on. If they think youre so tight then you will have a good chance of bluffing later on. They think they have read you like an open book then if you run a couple of bluffs now and then they get confused and the surely dont like it.

Default at the table

I like to be unpredicteble at the table but not in a "loos canon" way but I like to mixe my playstyle sometimes just for the fun of it. I dont call whith anything or play stupid . but I try to mix agressiveplay whith slowplay and so on. It works for me

Default style

usually the best way is to mix it up and never show hands when u have the nuts or on a complete bluff. if they want to see your hands they should pay. information costs money.

Id only show hands on a freeroll ocassionally when im not playing my normal style so it doesnt matter if players are taking notes or not

I agree, a reckless maniac is the way to be! UNPREDICTABLE!! i never use one certain style, i do whatver i feel like and bluff ALOT if i am bored or not getting hands. I am far too impatient which will come back to haunt me some day but so far so good.... got a nice bankroll going now

the truth is to become a champion or poker pro you have to change up your game to your surroundings and that is it. so to become a champ you have to be able to change your game around a lot. thanks

No, the truth is that you should never use the word "style" , just play wise and patiently and everything will be fine.

out of all my poker buddies...my friend matt plays the tightest, and i think it is because of this he bluffs me out of a lot of pots. it is very scary to be in any hand he is in....it seems like he must have AA or KK or something of the sort tucked away, this isn't true of course, he plays other hands, but since it SEEMS that way, its scary playing him.

so ultra tight isn't the best way to play, but i think its one of the best reps to have.
