| I agree completely that the first part of large open freerolls tends to produce ridiculous play. The worst I can remember is six people out of 10 going all in on the first or second hand. Not just that, but the only pair was deuces, and none of the other five even had an A; the next best after the 22 was KT. I do agree that these tournaments can take a long time. I haven't been there in at least a month, but Everest Poker used to have continuous limit holdem SNGs. Only pennies for the winners, but even that is more than play money chips. |

| "I'm curious as to why you continue to play for play money. If your goal is simply to see a lot of hands with no risk and no investment except for your time, why not play the freerolls on sites like Absolute or Poker Champs. At least you have the chance of winning something, even if it isn't very much, and it seems likely that the overall level of play will be somewhat better than on the play money tables." There is no difference in Play money and Freerools that I have seen yet. I also do it to work on calculating pot odds faster. |

| there are only one time when its good to play at play money tables and tht is when you have a really, really boring time.or if you just have to play and you dont have any money. if you want to learn for free its better to play at the freerolls okey it almost the same but still not. you can actually win there, so after the crazy players has gone out of the game there are some players that actually are seriusly and you can atleast lern a thing or two. but the best way to really lern is to play for money. |

I understand the part about playing lots of hands for practice. What I don't grasp is that if play money and freerolls both serve the same purpose for you with no difference in the levels of play, why play for play money when, by playing freerolls instead, you get the same practice, experience or whatever, with the chance of winning some money? |

| I agree. Playing play money when you are a real money or tournamant player is bad. You pick up bad habits. You make dumb choices. You chase on cards you should not chase with. Ity is not good. For beginners or players who are just learing the game it is a great thing. It is not great for people who have been playing for a good umber of months or years. I will go to a play money table once in awhile but it is only to fool around and have some fun. I usually go there after a bad beat of some sort. Take the anger out. But it is bad though just to go and try to play seriously I think it messes up your mindset on poker.

The difference is people are not going to chase hands make bad calls play with nothing. Their goal aswell as your goals is to win money. Players will want to win and will not play loose and call with anything. They won't play as many bad starting hands. They will play the premium hands which makes it exciting. There is an investment to winning a freeroll tournament and i gaurantee you there is a difference between a freeroll and playing on play money tables.

| I agree with you. When I started out with play money I felt like this was useless. These people were not serious at all and I knew that this was nothing like playing real money. So I dived in and took some losses, but learned a lot! |
