i dont think its ok for a real money player to play for play/fun money
it only affects your play in a bad way
not to IMPROVE as the above ad says
its a whole other style of playing there
you just get messed up in the head if you play 2 many times for fun
then go enter a tourney or real money table
all though you do know the difference it still effects you in the back of the head

I think if you play enuff play money games, it will affect your play positively.

I know it has mine... when I first started... I played with play money and won every hand and every tourney and I was on top of the world.. so, I put in some money shortly after, and lost it all.....

Now that I have played for real, for several months, and with play money, ( or freerolls ), I have seen several thousand hands and how they might play out....

It's just a matter of weeding thru the play money players that 'just don't care'. And keep in mind, there are real money players, 'that just don't care', so, if you play a good solid game with play money, and play that 'same game' with real money, you should do alright...

But if you play reckless and care free, because it is fake money, then, I would strongly advise, not playing for real money.... ( Unless I'm there )

if you get to higher limits play money games it'squite different

these people are serious to practice the game with the play money.

as long as you can build up your stack through the people who go all-in with any hand since it's play money, then play money can be a good tool to practice your moves without risking your money

like slayre said, think as if you are playing for real money. be serious!

I am a regular cash game player. I play for money every night. I still however love to get on freerolls and play money tournaments that or big just so I can see flops and hands and how they play out. Never think for a second that regular success at play money means you are going to be a great cash game player. Use it for what it is... practice and a chance to see tons of hands and situations play out. I of course gamble a lot more when it comes to play money just to see what happens and when. It makes my real game much much tighter becuase I have seen home hands will work out on a regular basis.

I often will be playing on FTP for cash stakes and on Stars for playmoney 27 person SnG at the same time

I'm curious as to why you continue to play for play money. If your goal is simply to see a lot of hands with no risk and no investment except for your time, why not play the freerolls on sites like Absolute or Poker Champs. At least you have the chance of winning something, even if it isn't very much, and it seems likely that the overall level of play will be somewhat better than on the play money tables.

in a way it could be benefiting, since it's a free chance to get money,
and at later stages of it you play seriously to win

but early stage gaming you just can't learn anything out of people going all in everytime
