Default know when to quit?

My biggest problem is not knowin' when to stop playin' I find myself starting the day with $120 and 3-4hours later sittin' there with 400-500 startin' to feel my eyes burn and get sleepy, but I alway's stay loookin' for another double up..find myself playin' garbage and I do not have the time to wait for a good hand. then usually I get another table goin' or a sng and then it always seems to happen this way... playin' a sng and at a $3/$6 table and once I start losin' on one table they both crash and burn at the same time so all the time when I am kicked out of the sng i am all in at the table game and lose insinq! it's crazy! I need to start seetin' goals or somethin'! instead of playin' till it's gone!

you need to set win/lose points.. ie, 2 stop points.

Lets say you buyin to a ring game for $100.... promise yourself to:

1)stop when down $50
2)stop when up $100
3)stop when 2 hours have passed

Its durn easy to set those goals... sticking to them is the tricky part..

Discipline.

Some say to never walk away from a winning session... and this makes sense... the cards are coming your way and your stack is increasing rapidly.. why leave? Recognize when the cards stop coming your way.. and quit.

Yeah, the same thing happened to me except for me it was a bit different. I played for a week and lost quite a large sum of money, I think it was roughly around $2000 which is crazy then finally I got my cards rolling and got up to $1000 with my last deposit. The problem here was I was so close to making all my money back that I could not stop, then it came crashing down. I wanted to stop but I thought maybe I could get back to $1000 again. I lost it all and sat there and cried. I haven't been able to convince myself to deposit anymore money in case I lose it all again and have decided just to try my luck in freerolls... for now!

Everyone needes a cut off, What i do when I'm at the casino is i limit myself before i go on and i stick to it, Well it was not always like that I would stay till i was so broke i could not pay attention. and that was sad, well i think i learned a lesson from myself and a couple of friends. My one friend her husband lost there house and everything playing poker because he had no control. LOVE, LIVE, LAUGH AND PLAY POKER BUT KNOW WHEN TO STOP!

Just because it all gets lost in one session, does not mean it all has to be won back in one session...

I lost $400 bucks rather quickly when I first started playing for money.. lost it all in about 2 days...

Took 3 months to get it back...

my boyfriend has this problem it doesent mather how much he has won he doesent stop until all money is gone and I dont get that. he says that he feel lucky and thought he would win even more. I mean he put in about 100$ and takes it up to about 400$ I think he should stop and take some money out but he says "just this hand", "I will stop after the next hand" and so on. and the next you know he doesent have any money left and he is soooooooo mad. He realy dont know when to quit.

Sounds like a 'gambling problem' to me...

If what you describe is accurate
