no doubt calling before the flop with raising hands. i think this comes from playing small stack internet tourneys wherea significant raise even early is so stack depleting. i would love to play some deep stack tourneys to see how i would play differently.

My weakness, I think, is trying to get too cute when my chip stack starts falling behind the average in tournaments. If it's a big tourney or a freeroll, then this happens at the beginning, when some players are going crazy all-in left, right, and center. Sometimes it's the middle, when things slow down but I just haven't been getting the cards. Either way, that's when I start to call marginal hands, raise fair hands, bluff, and occasionally gamble all-in because I think that's the only way I can catch up to the average. I need to work on my patience in that respect.

| Maybe the easiest question to answer. I actually just got done with a 1k freeroll I posted about where I finished 6th for $40 and I am still on a little high so this may be strong. I HATE GETTING MIDDLE POCKET PAIRS. I understand when a few people call preflop I should fold them but often times I raise it up or call. The middle pockets are nice for trips with overs on the board because you can win huge pots that way. So I guess playing the middle pockets is my weakest part of my game.

Actually it's true, I do that too. When I am convinced that I have a good hand pre-flop, I'll pay attention to people raising and re-raising before or after me, but I tend to assume that if 6 people call my raise it's because they're calling stations rather than that they have cards. Thus I tend to overestimate my hand after the flop too. I need to spend more time focusing on my opponents' hands and less time on my own sometimes.

The mistake I make that leads to many other terrible mistakes is that I don't slow down the action and take a minute to decide. Usually this involves a call rather than a bet or a raise. This hole is especially maddening on the bubble. I also occassionally allow myself to get caught up in the free for alls that happen on the bubble with blinds high, stacks low and people panicking and going all in. I sometimes fail to just step back and let them be the ones to act crazy. I get caught up in the maddness. Over calls with good but not winning hands is another one that costs me money that it shouldn't.

My biggest weakness doesnt have to do with me actually playing but its getting me away from the table. I can manage to pry myself out when im losing, but if i start rolling in the dough i cant get out and sometimes this leads to overcocky playing which screws me a lot.

Let me see ... my top ten are: 1) Chasing Straights and Flushes, 2) Calling too much, 3) Slowplaying weak cards, 4) Not raising enough with strong cards to flush out the trash, 5) Calling with a weak kicker, low straight, low flush 6) Playing Side games like Blackjack 7) Going All-in too much (just for the thrill, wheeeee) 8) Playing way too late in the evening 9) Playing while drinking beer and 10) Letting people see my cards (LOL) Iceberg Last edited by iceberg : 03-10-06 at 07:54 AM.
