Default Tracking your play

I am a big fan of tracking my play. I do not use the various software out there instead I opt for the old pad and pencil.

What are some of the things you players use to track you wins and loses at the table?

I use Poker Tracker. And when I actually use it (i.e., go back and review my biggest losses of the night, wins, etc.) it's really helpful.

somehow 55 dollar see abit too much for the program.
maybe it's worth the investment. i dunno :S
i used the trial version and it was awesome, it only works upto 1000 hands though

and the most annoying thing was that the guy who took all my money shows up as a really good player in the auto ranking thing....

Well....would you rather he had shown up as a fish?

It is expensive, I know. But when you use it properly, it can really pay off. You can easily analyze your play to find the leaks, and also having all that info on your opponents can come in handy when you're facing a big raise. (Does this guy bluff a lot? Check PT. Only play the nuts? Check PT.) When you add programs like GameTime+ or PokerAce to it, it becomes even more powerful, because you have that info right on your screen as you play.

Anyone who has PT, I really recommend you get the guide. It explained to me how to really use the software to better my game. Now I just have to be good about doing it!

It's all about having an advantage over your opponent - you want to maximize every little bit you can. Reviewing your hands and your play as well as having info on how your opponents play theirs is just another way of doing that.

to be honest I dont take it that serius. I like to play the game but I am not interested in tracking my play. I go whith emotion and the nolige that I have and sometimes it goes better than others. for me it gets so stiff when your starting to analyse and stuff I just love the game and play to win of course but I prefer to just learn on the way. Its working for me so its alright. I have won my chare of tournaments and money so I cant complaine. But hey different things are working for different people.

wow, thats a pretty good idea. I never really track my losses... unless taking a printscreen of HIstory on noble poker counts. Because some of my biggest bad beats.. i have no choice but to take prt screens.

like, loosing with pocket aces preflop to 84 or some b.s like tha.t you guys know how it is

Just kidding, but instead of printscreen I think it's better to use programs like Game time or else.
Sound like a good ideea and it really helps you.

I am getting very close to making the purchase of one of these pieces of tracking software. I know that they allow you to track your hands, as well as identify others as strong, weak, passive or aggressive players so you know what game to sit down at ahead of time.

Apparently there are databases of millions of hands of play info you can get from vendors on the web that are aggregated contributed hands that are captured by 'site members' so if you've ever played on one of the sites they monitor, you are almost definatly in their database. The only way you can avoid having your data shared is to 'join' these hand history aggregation sites, which often means shelling out $20-$30 a month. This sounds a little like blackmail, but I guess if you gotta play on the internet, you have to deal with the consequences.

Has anyone used one of these 'member' groups and can you comment on the quality and usefulness of the data you receive?
