Default WPT on DVD

Has anyone purchased these disks?

I've seen all the shows multiple times...the beauty of ReplayTV. But I was wondering if there were special featured on the DVD that you don't see on television. There are sometimes when you get the feeling you missed some significant hands.

There was one episode where they introduce Huck Seed, but he never makes the show because (I guess) he went out on the first hand.

It seems there would be a good opportunity on these disks to provide a lot of additional footage that doesn't makeit of the cutting room floor, but footage that could be very beneficial for a poker player to see, since basicly the only footage you see are the miracle plays.

So anyone have these and can share?

I've got both WPT Season 1 and 2.

They're both worth getting, although Season 1 is brutally expensive now for some reason (it's $80+ CDN where I am). I ended up buying Season 2 using bankroll money and it was great. Then they started showing the episodes on TV...but I did get to watch them all before my friends did.

Season 1 is pretty good too. Worth $80? It is for someone who likes poker - I'd rather watch poker than re-runs of Friends on TBS, that's for sure.

There is no additional footage at all. What you saw on TV is what you get the DVDs. There are no commercials, but there is a five second WPT ad where the commercials would go - you will get good at fast forwarding when watching these things. Also, I like fast forwarding through the Mike Sexton/Vince Van Patten banter - I'm still not convinced that Vince Van Patten knows how to play poker...

As for the extra features, they're not that good. If you know anything about poker, the poker corner tips are worthless. They have some player bios, but they're pretty useless too.

If you're gonna pick these up, get them for poker and not for the extras.

Thanks for the advice. I was considering purchasing these because I love to watch the WPT.

However, I decided not too, because I had seen many of the episodes on TV before, and now, knowing that you should buy it for the poker (which I've seen) and not the extras, I'm glad I saved my money

Thanks again Klopzi

You know I am not sure either one of these guys is a poker player. I get so tired of Sexton praiseing horrible plays. He loves Gus Hansen and I don't get it.

Sexton has been a pro for a long time and knows what he's talking about. Sometimes he "dumbs" it down for the viewers, but he's normally pretty on when discussing general strategy. The reason for praising Gus is simply that Gus Hansen is a great player using a style of play that is new and not easily replicated by others.

As for Vince Van Patten...I don't know about that guy. He's probably a heck of a lot better than me (for now ) but not in the same league as Sexton or any other pro.
