Default Las Vegas Hotels

I thought I would start this thread to discuss hotels in Las Vegas.

By far my favorite place to stay and have fun is the Hard Rock. I really like the music and the way they have it decorated. Unfortunately no Poker (as far as I know). The downside is their off-strip location and the price of their rooms.

I had a good deal at the Westward Ho a few months ago (See separate thread) the rooms were moderate, which is all you need when you are just stashing your bag and getting some shut eye.

Then any downtown casino is good because of the availability of reasonable rates and the close proximity of many poker rooms. (Golden Nugget, Binions, Plaza etc).

Anyone else have a favorite and can write a few lines explaining why it is?

I've stayed at the Plaza, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Cheap rooms, yes, but you end up spending so much in cab fare to get to the strip that it ends up costing you as much as a room in one of the strip hotels.

My favorite place in Vegas is the MGM Grand. I love the poker room, love the hotel itself - any casino with a Starbucks wins points with me! Also they have a great poker room rate where if you play 4 hours a day you get a cheaper room.

The Bellagio is also very nice of course, but more pricey. They're pretty good about handing out comps though.

As has been said before - if you're going to Vegas for the hotel, you're going for the wrong reason! I always see my hotel room for just a few hours during the day. Come home at dawn, go to bed, wake up after noon and do it all over again!
