| Jason just wrote an article on table persona, and I found myself laughing quite a bit at it. (Not because it wasn't good Jason; don't worry!) I love the part about The Newbie, because I see this all the time in Vegas. I'm really not sure the sunglasses guys are wearing them for an act though - I think a lot of them truly think they're just that cool. I do however have a friend who purposefully wears sunglasses and a online poker site shirt or hat to take on that role. This may be something for me to look into... It's the part about "The Woman" that made me laugh the most, mainly because I was still thinking of live play, and wondering why on earth someone would go to such extremes to put on an act at the poker table! It would be quite disarming to have a guy in a dress sitting across the table from me, I will admit that. ![]() You do run into lots of players who will treat you differently if they think you're a girl. In my case, it's not an act, but my screen name makes it fairly clear that I'm of the fairer sex. I've been in hands before where my opponent would show me his cards if I've folded before showdown, and made a comment about how he only did that because I was a (flirty) woman. Don't get the wrong idea, I don't try to invoke such responses and I don't act flirty at a table just to try and get some advantage. But it does happen at times.

| If you weren't a Phil Gordon aficionado, I'd assume you'd never heard about he and the Tiltboys dressing up in drag to enter a Ladies Event once upon a time. Would that creep you out too? Or would you let it slide because it's Phil? ;-)

| I normally play the quiet guy roll when i make a live game appearance. One of the best things I have in my gun belt is a extremely good memory. I like to show up earlier that most the players and listen to them talk as they arrive. The 45 minutes before a game starts is normally better than 2 hours at a table. It is the time when they are telling each other about their wins and losses since the last time they saw each other. You get to hear why "Tommy" raised in the cutoff with KJ against a 5 Xbb. You get to hear why "Jim" thinks he got bad beat when he slow played his AA with a Min bet preflop only to get out flopped by an under pair making a set and then calling the all in after he checked it. You get to hear who cant lay down a flush draw because he has the 56 of hearts and only needs one card.
