He's fairly solid. I've played with him a few times and he knows his stuff.

Default The Law of Relative Poker Skill

Arthur C. Clarke once said that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. I'm proposing a new Law of Relative Poker Skill here right now:

Any poker player of sufficiently advanced skill is indistinguishable from a seasoned professional.

I still haven't seen anything more on Phil Gordon's departure. Have any reasons come out? I'm curious if it was the show's decision or his. Seems odd when a show departs from a formula that seems to be working. Maybe he wanted more money than they were willing to pay? Not exactly a new scenario for TV.

He's said "I've gotten about all I can out of that show". So whatever that means...my guess is he's ready to focus more on the tourney scene.

Default Freddy?

I dont think that Freddy is the guy to take the place of Phil because thier personalities aren't really the same and phil seemed like he knew how to make the show interesting. The reason I watched that show is for the comedy from the actors playing and Phil was one of the funnier on that show. I hope they can find a player who is good enough to replace him.

I actually really like Wil Wheaton. He's articulate, and I think he's done a good job of keeping a head on his shoulders and yet taking advantage of his opportunities. I'd like to see him given a chance to succeed like that and maybe bring his poker stylings to the masses a bit.

To be fair, though, I haven't seen him in an entertainment medium for awhile, so I can't speak to what his charisma would be like at this point!

All I know is I'm a huge Dave Foley fan back to his Kids in the Hall days. It still feels weird to watch him on CPS, but hey, I'll take what I can get.

I love Dave Foley as well. As for Wil...he's not lacking on charisma at all. Really fun guy to play poker with; I think he'd do great as a commentator.

That said, CPS has never made it a secret that they didn't consider him a big enough star to even play on the show, so I doubt a hosting gig would be in the cards.

Goodness forbid they should actually invite some celebrities who really know how to play poker (well)!

Yea really. I don't know about all of you guys, but with all the other poker on TV I don't waste my time watching CPS. It is interesting to find out what Phil Gordon will do along with playing/writing.
