Since I be going to Vegas next month, for a few days.. I decided to bite the bullet and buy a couple of poker books.. I already had 'Theory of Poker', by Sklansky, but, after reading it 4 or 5 times.. I am ready for another.

I will be getting 'Harrington on Holdem Vol I', and 'Caro's Book of Poker Tells'.

I personally have never read a poker book. I've briefly considered it, but didn't know if it would be worth my while.

When you are done reading those, let us BBP'ers know how they were and whether they are worth reading or not.

definitely Harrington on Hold'em. it seems like everyone's read it now and u don't wanna miss out on it.

There's weekly Poker tournaments in our uni where around 80 people turn up each week.
seems like half of them have read Harrington on Hold'em already.

u might think that since everyone read it it's pointless reading, wrong,
it's definitely helped me in my tourney play
(i've proudly managed to come 9th 3 times in the past 4 weeks.....
good or bad? i'll translate that again, i came on the bubble 3 times in the past 4 weeks )

i guess it sucks being in the bubble everytime but i definitely played my best poker recently after reading HOH.

also, u sometimes hear people discussing strategies according to their M's....
if u do'nt know what M is, read HOH so u don't miss out on the conversation

is Theory of Poker any good :S?
I only play no-limit, and it seems Theory of Poker is just for all types of poker...

Well, I don't have to read them to tell you they are good.. I wouldn't have bought them if they were not good.. they both come highly recommended..

I expect them both to make certain things 'clearer', stuff that I already know, make sense...



Stuff like, not calling a 12 dollar bet when you KNOW he has a higher straight.

i read both books and they are both excellent...

also got ahold of Phil Gordons DVD... Final Table Poker... which is pretty good..... he is pretty funny...

and Charlie Shoten's No Limit Life is an excellent read... my good friend heard him speak this last weekend, and altho she is not a poker player.. at all.. she asked to borrow the book...

My next purchase will be Dan Harringtons Vol II..
