Default Collusion at Absolute Poker

Yesterday I decided to kill some time in the afternoon by playing in one of the gigantic freerolls on Absolute. These things are insane - people will literally move all-in on the first hand with something like Q-T, hoping to double up or go sign up for the next one. I managed to get up around 6K before I was moved to a table with two Russian players who were passing each other information through the chat window. I know they were passing info - and not talking about pierogies and snow, as Worm would say - because I took the time to look up some of the words they were using. Funny how using words like "queen" and "ace" can make others think you're cheating.

Anyhow, I sent an email to Absolute's poker room manager about the collusion. I got this response back:

Hi Jason,
Thanks for bringing this matter to my attention. We do have an "english only at the table" rule, and this is also included in the rules listed on our web site. I will look at the chat of these players to confirm if they were simply exchanging pleasantries or communicating information about their cards. If they were merely exchanging in chat unrelated to their cards, I will likely only give them a warning and inform that future violations will result in a loss of chat privileges. If they are telling each other about their cards or engaging in any form of cheating further actions, up to and including closure of their accounts, will be taken.
Thank you again for reporting this matter to us.

Maybe nothing happens to these guys in the long run, but maybe they get banned for their cheating. All I know is, I felt better for reporting it - a rule is a rule, and it has to be enforced to be effective.

Moral of the story? Don't be afraid to bring anything that resembles cheating to the attention of the poker room manager. It's their job to look into stuff like this, and if you don't bring it up they'll never know what's going on. These guys can't be at every table at once - they need your help to enforce the rules they've enacted for your protection.

I've brought cheating up many times. It never hurts and can help. Sites never mind.

I've gotten people chat banned while they were still at my table. (Celebpoker) I've reported people and been sort of blown off (prima site) complaining about a bystander saying "all in" during the final table of a freeroll.

And I've gotten something in between from pokerroom.com.

Most sites should and do care about cheating. It's really in their best interest.

One time, at a MTT on Titan, two individuals who ended up at my table toward the end of the tournament were chatting away in French, much to the annoyance of the rest of the table. However I happen to be fluent in the language, so I was able to translate for everyone. They were making idle chit chat, I believe just to anger and perhaps tilt the other players... Too bad they weren't trying to cheat, or I'd have been able to take advantage.

well lets see....I was once berated with language that would make a sailor blush ...reported it to a/p and they said they would review the chat logs and give the player a week of no chat and banned on a 2nd violation...well a week later he was still swearing so they did nothing ...then i saw several players with multiple accounts at a/p ...reported it ...they didnt ban them, but what they did is when they play a tourny they just shut down one of the accounts. This tells me that to a/p its all about having players in the seats and they do nothing to police the game. Prima doesnt even answer you back and God forbid you ask for a intelligent person to talk to at pokerhost.

I don't like playing at AP, but they're customer support is great. Lots of people seem to like the site, and this post will make me more inclined to play there. Their freerolls take forever though, I go in first hand with qt frequently, lol. I only finished in the money once before, but I haven't played there much.

i also think i have caught some cheaters at ap seems to be alot there but at 1 table i was at there were to guys playing and chatting back and forth everthing seemed just find untill one hand there was just 3 people in the hand the two cheaters and one other person.
And one of the guys put a raise out there and there other made a comment to the sort of (why did you raise with that hand you know my cards are better you can see my cards ) i thought this was strange so i sent e-mail to support and ap is on the ball with the investigation i don't know if anything was done about this or not the e-mail they sent me said they couldn't tell me the outcome on the situation.
But i have wrote these names down and have never seen them again on ap. customer support is great there!!!

that really sucks but, absolute is holding that freerolls with 1000 people ? what's the percentage to meet two cheater on the same table on 1000 people tourney?

you did right thing reporting them.. i thought i found many cheater when playing tourneys.. but sometimes i had no clues that they are cheating, sometimes i was 100% sure! but .. i never reported. I just laugh there, and try to kick one by one and take all their chips .. that's better than reporting
