Default HORSEing around at the WSOP

Harrah's has recently announced that they will add a HORSE event to the WSOP, likely before or after the Main Event. With the $50,000 buyin, this event stands a very good chance of exceeding the Main Event in first place prize money.

Many people have complained that the WSOP event schedule focuses too much on NL Hold'Em, and this event was created in response to that. For those not familar, HORSE is a mixed game, with levels of Hold'Em (limit), Omaha, Razz, Seven Card-Stud, and Stud Eight or Better (Stud hi/lo). Because you have to be a very skilled player to do well in all of these games, expect to see only the top names competing in this event.

If you'd like to play HORSE, Full Tilt is the only site you can give it a try at, since they are the only site that offers Razz. However, Poker Stars has play-money versions of Omaha and the Stud games, so you can get a feel for the games there as well.

Right now Full Tilt only offers HORSE in tourney form, but a ring game version is on the horizon...

I really want to play in Sunday Night Horse, but I've let my bankroll slip enough that $216 is too much of my bankroll. It looks so great though.

I'm not THAT big of a HORSE fan myself. But they offer sats into that event, right? Friend of mine has tried a couple.

I've never really searched for them, but I guess there are $26 token sats to get in. I dont know, I guess I'm starting to play more than just holdem most of the time and HORSE is perfect for that.

EDIT: Yea those token sags/tournys can get you in, guess I'll give them a shot

Congratulations on your finish. These tournaments are quite intriguing to me, and may warrant a look or two from those of us who are looking for something new to try. You have to be quite a player to "change gears" from one style of game to another on the fly.

thank you it is a great tourney to get into and the payouts are kinda top heavey at full tilt but these tourneys usually have under 110 entered and it pays 16 so there is room to make money and its limit to so it make you feel you get your monies worth

What's kind of disappointing about the WSOP's HORSE event is that the final table will be NLH only. Seems incongruent to play mixed games to get there and then switch. Looks like TV influence at work.

The all NLE final table is a real bummer. The television will give a brief description of the way the tournament was designed and then only show the final table portion. In my opinoin, this will soon be considered THE poker event. Like the main event winner is today, the winner of this event will be considered the true champion of poker.
