In my opinion Ak is a good hand to raise preflop but not an all-in hand.
You can easlly be take out from the tournament by a small pocket pair.
I play Ak with a raise preflop and then it depends on the cards that come.

I agree Sensi. First of all I think all-ins are used way too much. However, if you get AK why go all in. If you get called you will either be in a coin flip or once in awhile some idiot will call with A10 or something.

Thereofore, it is logical to make a good raise. If the flop is really poor, maybe then go all in just to take the pot. However, why go all in pre-flop and win lets say the blinds and aonther limper.

All ins are so annoying. Sorry for the venting.

Default Ak

i ususally raise preflop with AK...push out all the weak hands. your chances of winning the hand are higher when you push people out before the hand even begins

The Problem with AK is people think its a Premium Hand when in fact is only a Premium Drawing hand. With this hand most people stick with it till the end. The way i play these is Depending on the table action is if im in position i raise the mininum 3x BB and see who i can force out. Out of position ill just limp in and try a Check-Raise or Semi-Bluff. But i dont make too big a raise to give the the info of what i have. I want to make sure i get paid off.

Default Ak

I will say in with an AK before the flop if they don't get to crazy betting, but if everyone is betting all crazy I will fold. Like you said, this hand is far from bulletproof and alot of people play like it is.

Ya I agree I play it (suited) like you said, and it pays off 80% of the time.

I like to raise preflop to clear the garbage, then hope to catch a piece of the flop. If the flop, has an A or K, then I'll bet. If the flop is a miss then I proceed with caution. You may be able to steal the pot if you are in late position. You only have about 25% chance of improving on the turn and river.
