Just if he was multi accounting he sure wasn't on the same table with both accounts.
So i think he won straight but how did they catch him.

They caught him because he bragged about winning on another online forum, when everyone knew the person who won was not his normal screen name. He then made up a story about it being his grandmother's account, and how he took over for her after he busted out.

And yes, sometimes he would end up at the same table as one of his other accounts. He would then open up other SnGs, to "negate his advantage". Basically saying that by distracting himself more, he wasn't benefitting from being two players at the same table.

It's cheating even if he didn't ever end up at the same table as one of his other accounts. They're freezeout tournies - you buy in and play, and when you bust out, you go home. You don't get to buy in three entries at a time and then play the others when you bust out of one.

wow.. but still winning 500k tourney requires too much skill ...
doesn't matter he played from 2 accounts it's still multi table with 2500+ players - even if he played with 20 accounts he must showed awesome poker to finish 1st.. i think they needed to gave him consolidation prize for example of 20k he was doing really hard there

i feel sorry for him..

Default No Nononono

No constalation prize, cheaters shouldnt receive a dime, and those of you who talk on MSN or yahoo while playing and you share your hands with friends that is also cheating! I beleive anyform of cheating shouldnt be tolerated. Not only should he have to forfeit his winnings they should ban him from the site, and put him on the players blacklist for cheater and e-mail it to all the other sites. Black listing his ISP address of course not the names, because he can always change those.

Call me stupid but how was this cheating? I have an account at some sites where my husband also has his account. My 30 years old sone has his own account on my computer because he does not have his own. Am I going to be in the same boat when I hit it big.

you're right here.. i don't like cheaters too - and there are many of them online..
but, i'm giving 100000$ to anyone who can win the multi table tournament with 2500+ people (with prize pool more than 50k) with 10 accounts...
first at all that tourney is full of pros.. (it's full of "donkeys" too..) but if someone did that with 2 accounts he must be an awesome player.. it require big percent of luck too, but final table on any major tourney really shows skill, right?

from 2500 players, where 1500 are reeeaally good (500 from 1500 are top class of poker), if you win tourney with 2 accounts, you're the first league of poker, no doubt! but if he could win it by two accounts, he could do it with one and he was only 16!

Default cheating

sounds like he is an awesome player with some skills. unfortunatly he's lacking in the morals and ethics department. somewhere in his personality is a flaw because breaking the rules was an acceptable behavior to him. he then tried to fabricate an excuse (ie..lying). what deviant behavior is next...
stealing? he was lucky if all they took was their $ back. i'm surprised they didn't ban him.

this is old news and at the time it was common practice, except nobody was dumb enough to brag about it on other sites. He told one person, who then told someone who posted it on p5s...in other words, don't trust anyone.
