Default Top Player Caught Cheating

Here's a summary:
Date of Tournie: Feb.12th
Place: Party Poker
Prize: $500,000 Guaranteed
Cost: $200 Buyin
No. of Players: well over 2500

A 16 year old kid placed first in the tournie. He was later found to have a second account and was disqualified and forfeited $140K. Everyone else was bumped up one money level. Unbelievable, but perfect for Hollywood. His parents may want to stake him in a few tournies.

I only skimmed it, but I didn't catch that he was 16. His second account was "for his grandmother" though, so I'd just assume that he was young or underage anyway.

it's JJProdigy. he's not 16.

he's a very famous online player. one of the top ranked online players according to the Pocketfives leaderboard.

this became a huuuge issue actually, seeing as it was a famous player found to be multiaccounting.

apprently, yeah, PartyPoker took back the 140k winning which he won while playing on his "grandma's account". they also took away the 40k that was in his existing JJprodigy account apparently.

i'm sure there are many more pros who multi account, they just haven't been exposes yet.
i do feel quite bad for the dude though, despite multiaccounting, it still takes skill to win such a big event!

Wow! I didn't see anything about the kid/guy being 16. That sucks (though fair) they took all his money for multi-accounting. I can't see how it would be much of advantage in a tourney with 2500+ players except gives him to chances to survive. Now if somehow he ended up on the same table with both IDs that would sure be an advantage. I'd be interested if that happened at all during the tourney.

He's not the only one. Party recently closed the account of another big player, ZeeJustin, after they discovered he was doing the same thing.

Thats some insane stuff right there. He'll probably just go out to another site and do it again though. I don't think it's going to stop him.

I'm not sure that he will do it again. The simpliest way around this issue is to have different internet connections. So you have dial up, cable, dsl and what ever else is out their, use different computers and they will never be able to track that you have mutiple accounts. I believe that this has been a problem with online poker for years but has become more noticable now that the tournaments are becoming so big and have so much money at stack. When you can win half a million a few different times a week it would seem prudent to get what ever edge that you can.

Multi-accounting ruins games, but taking back $140K is just horrible.
