Yesterday I looked at some of the big tournaments running
Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars this November. Today I'll examine this month's
tournaments at PokerRoom and Absolute Poker.
PokerRoom
PokerRoom is offering satellites to the Howard Lederer and Annie Duke
Poker Fantasy Camp held at the Palms in Las Vegas from December 1st-4th. The camp
features seminars with Lederer and Duke as well as the chance to play against
them and other camp participants for $100,000 in prizes. PokerRoom is holding
a $100+8 Fantasy Camp Final tournament every Friday from now until November
26th at 6 PM ET, with two $4,500 prize packages guaranteed in each Final. One
package will be awarded for every 45 entrants. Special $11+1 satellites to the
Fantasy Camp Final will also be running every Thursday from now until November
25th at 6 PM and 9 PM ET. One entry ticket to the Final will be awarded for
every 10 participants.
A favorite at PokerRoom, the Grand Tournament, is returning next month for
another round. The winner of the Grand Tournament 4 took home an amazing
$134,000, and the prize this time around should be just as impressive. The
Grand Tournament 5 will be held December 17th and 18th, but qualifiers to this
$1,000+0 event - yes, you read that correctly, there is no juice on the
entries into this tourney - are already running.
Multi-table qualifiers to the Grand Tournament 5 are available for either
$11+1, where 1 player in 10 wins a ticket to the second stage, or for $100+8,
where 1 player in 10 wins entry into the $1,000+0 tourney. Stage 1 tournaments
run at 10:15 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:30 PM, 3:30 PM, 4:30 PM, 5:30
PM, 6:30 PM, 7:30 PM, 8:15 PM, 9:30 PM, and 11:40 PM ET all week, and at 10:30
PM on weekdays. Stage 2 tournaments run at 2:30 PM and 8:30 PM ET all week and
10:30 PM ET on weekdays.
Sit-and-go qualifiers to the Grand Tournament 5 are also currently running.
Like the multi-table tourneys, these also run in 2 stages. Buy-in for the
Stage 1 Qualifier is $14+1. First place receives a $112+8 ticket to the Stage
2 sit-and-go, and 2nd place receives a freeroll into the Stage 1 sit-and-go.
Buy-in for the Stage 2 Qualifier is $112+8. First place here receives a
$1,000+0 entry into the Grand Tournament 5, and 2nd place receives a freeroll
into the Stage 2 sit-and-go.
Absolute Poker
Absolute Poker is a favorite spot for a lot of players looking for cheap
tournaments. They also have a lot of satellites available to bigger
tournaments. Two of the satellites this month focus on the Ultimate Poker
Challenge held at the Plaza in Las Vegas.
The first of these is the UPC Finals Satellite, with winners receiving a prize
package that includes a buy-in to the televised $10,000 +$200 UPC Tournament
Final at the end of November. This satellite will run Friday, November 18th,
at 10:30 PM ET, and for every 110 players one $11,000 prize will be awarded.
Direct buy-in costs $100+8, and qualifiers for the satellite start at $1+.10.
Anyone who's ever dreamed of being on television, playing poker with the best
in the world, would be remiss if they didn't at least give on of the
qualifiers for this satellite tournament a shot.
Maybe the big tournament doesn't suit you and you'd rather play in some of the
smaller UPC Events. You can win your way into 3 UPC events at Absolute Poker
in their UPC Triple Threat Satellites. Super Satellites will be held on
November 9th and 16th, and qualifiers to these satellites run daily with entry
fees as low as $1+.10. For every 50 players in the two Super Satellites, one
player will receive a $2500 prize with entry into the November 24th, 25th and
26th UPC events. Each of these UPC tournaments has a $500 +50 buy-in, and
winners also receive $850 to cover their expenses.
