Here's a look at more of the big tournament action around
the net this month.
UltimateBet
As the sponsor of the WPT's Aruba event since its inception, UltimateBet has a
reputation for some great tournament prize packages for its satellite winners.
They're keeping up their image with the Stone Cold Nuts II promotion. The
guaranteed prize pool for the January 8 tourney is $1 million. In addition, 10
WSOP Main Event prize packages are being given out. That's a lot of guaranteed
money up and prizes up for grabs, and with satellites starting as low as $5.50
running daily it's hard to find a reason not to give it a shot. More
information on the Stone Cold Nuts II satellite schedule is available
here.
UltimateBet also holds a $125,000 Guaranteed tournament every Sunday at 10 PM
ET. With a $200+15 entry, the barrier between you and a chance at this big
prize pool is very modest - especially when you consider that UB offers
tournament entry chip (TEC) satellites around the clock for as little as
$11+1. More information on the rest of UltimateBet's tournament schedule is
available
here, and you can learn more about the TEC satellites
here.
Party Poker
The world's biggest limit
hold'em tournament is entering its fifth year with
an estimated prize pool of $7 million, and as always the only place to win
your way in is Party Poker. The Party Poker Million V may still be five months
away, but building something this good takes a long time. Satellites for this
WPT event come in limit or no-limit, single- or multi-table, and big or small.
The Gateway tournament, held every Sunday, is limited to 20 players and
guarantees one PPM V prize package. Super satellites are held twice a week,
semi-final tournaments are held every two months, and Cruise Steps sit-and-go
tourneys run around the clock. More information on the PPM V is available
here.
In addition to the PPM V satellites, Party Poker has a new schedule of nine
daily tournaments with a combined guaranteed prize pool of over $130,000.
Omaha and
seven card stud players can even get in on the action at the
internet's biggest poker room, with $12,000 of the total guarantee going to
those two tournaments. The biggest single guarantee is the 10:20 PM ET $20+2
no-limit hold'em freezeout, where the prize every night will met or exceed
$40,000. Fans of rebuy tournaments will be happy to hear that two of the daily
tourneys will be offered as rebuys with an optional add-on, with $29,000 in
guaranteed prize money between them. More information on Party's guaranteed
tournament schedule is available
here.
Empire Poker
Online poker players in Europe often get the short end of the stick when it
comes to tournaments, which cater to the Western Hemisphere in their
scheduling. To give a little back to the Old World, Empire Poker has scheduled
a new $50+5 $10,000 Guaranteed European Tournament at 7 PM GMT (2 PM ET). For
those Americans who just can't get enough poker against the Swedes and Brits,
there's no need to worry - the tournament isn't off-limits to you. If you want
to play, make sure you get registered early - Empire stops accepting entries
15 minutes before the tourney starts.
There are plenty of other guaranteed prize pools at Empire. Every Sunday, you
can enter the $50,000 Guaranteed tournament for the low price of $100+10. If
that entry fee isn't low enough for you, every Thursday night features a
$15,000 Guaranteed tournament for $50+5. Satellites for both of these run
daily and are available for $5+1. On the last Sunday of each month, the
$50,000 becomes $200,000 in guaranteed prize money. Empire also features two
daily "high-roller" tournaments. Every evening at 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM ET,
respectively, a $500+30 and $1,000+50 tournament is run at Empire. While it's
advisable that you play a sharp game if you're going to enter, the only true
requirement for these tournaments is that your bankroll have enough money to
cover the entry fee. More information on all Empire Poker's guaranteed
tournaments is available
here.
