Here are more of this month's best online tournaments.
Doyle's Room
One of the best places online to qualify for land-based poker tournaments is
Doyle's Room, and this February has plenty to offer anyone wanting to
satellite into a big upcoming tourney.
Maybe you want to start working on a seat at the WSOP Main Event a little
early this year - if so, you've got two choices at Doyle's Room. The freezeout
satellite with 30-minute blind levels will run at 9:00 PM GMT on Saturday,
February 25th, with a buy-in of $198+19.80. The rebuy satellite will be at 11
PM the same night, with the same buy-in and unlimited rebuys in the first
hour. Multi-table $3+.15 satellites to this event run daily at 9 PM and 11 PM
GMT, and $24+2.42 single-table satellites run around the clock.
If you'd like to play a big tournament a little further north, the World Poker
Challenge at the Reno Hilton is probably more your style. The $198+19.80 super
satellite for the March 24th-27th WPC are running at Doyle's Room won't go off
until March 4th at 11:45 PM GMT, but $3+.15 multi-table qualifiers are already
running nightly at 11:45 PM. Single-table tourneys are also available for
$24.20+2.42.
Rather take a jaunt to Europe to rub elbows with the Old World's poker stars?
Try a super satellite to the European Poker Classics, running in late March at
Victoria Casino in London. The super satellites for this event cost a
relatively low $54+2.70 and run every Monday throughout February at 10 PM GMT.
Single-table satellites for the super are only $6.30+.63, and daily
multi-table qualifiers cost only $3+.15.
PokerStars
The LA Poker Classic is the premier event on the tournament trail in February,
and PokerStars is offering one of the last chances to play in the $9,600+400
main event . On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - the 10th, 11th, and 12th of
February - a multi-table freezeout and a double shootout will be held each
night, with one seat at the LAPC guaranteed in each event. Three satellites to
these events will also be held each day (two for the freezeout and one for the
double shootout). Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi won over $1.8 million at last
year's event, and this year's promises to be just as lucrative. The LAPC main
event starts on February 16th, so there will be no further chances at a seat
after the 12th. If you're itching to play in LA, this is the time to win your
seat.
The European Poker Tour's second season is beginning to wind down with the
completion of the French Open in Deauville later this week. That leaves only
one more event on the schedule - the EPT Grand Final at Monte Carlo - and
PokerStars is offering satellites to win the $12,500 buy-in for the
tournament. Super satellites to the Grand Final will run Saturdays throughout
February at 3:00 PM ET at PokerStars, with one seat guaranteed. The prize
package includes not only the tournament buy-in, but also six nights' lodging
at the Monte Carlo Bay Resort and $1,500 in spending cash. The Grand Final is
set to begin on March 7th, so now's the time to begin a quest that ends at the
final table in Monte Carlo.
