Here's a look at some of the tournaments and promotions being held around the
internet in January.
Full Tilt Poker
One of the most popular promotions at Full Tilt Poker is Jersey Days, when
tournament winners have the opportunity to win their own personalized FTP
jersey. Fans of this promotion can rejoice in January - Jersey Days are back.
This month it's a FTP home white hockey jersey up for grabs. Four freeroll
tournaments will be held daily throughout the month (and into February), and
the top three finishers in each of these tourneys will qualify for the Jersey
Days final on Saturday, February 11th, at 5:45 PM ET. The top nine finishers
in the final will win their very own personalize jersey. As an added bonus the
winner of the final will also win a Staples Center VIP hockey prize package
worth $2,000, including limousine transportation to and from the Staples
Center, four suite tickets, and Full Tilt gear for everyone in attendance.
The other big FTP promotion in January is the Iron Man Challenge, when the
Full Tilt pros challenge the site's players to show off their endurance. Any
player who plays 28 consecutive days at FTP in January and earns at least 50
Full Tilt Points per day will qualify for a seat in the Iron Man Challenge
$10,000 Freeroll at 3:30 PM on February 4th. The winner of the Iron Man
Challenge not only takes home 1st-place money, but also earns the chance at a
$50,000 payday. On February 11th the freeroll winner will challenge three of
the Full Tilt pros in consecutive heads-up matches. Beating one pro is good
for $5,000; two, $10,000; and all three wins $50,000. Not a bad reward for
playing the games you already play every day!
Doyles Room
The STT Frenzy returns to Doyle's Room this January, with bonuses up to $2,000
available to sit-and-go players of almost all levels. Winning 3 single-table
tourneys is good for a $20 bonus. Four consecutive tourneys will net you a
bonus of $200, while 5 in a row will win you $2,000.A streak of five
tournaments with finishes in the top 2 will earn you a $100 bonus. While the
bonuses are subject to
certain
restrictions, the good news is that full-table sit-and-go tournaments with
buy-ins as low as $1 are eligible for the bonus.
Seats in the main events of each of the next two stops on the World Poker Tour
are up for grabs this month at Doyle's Room, and in both cases you can win
your way into these prestigious tourneys for next to nothing. The first stop
is the World Poker Open at Gold Strike Hotel Casino in Tunica, MS. The main
event of this popular WPT stop is right around the corner, kicking off on
January 19th and running through January 23rd. Doyle's Room is holding its
super satellite to the WPO on Saturday, January 7th, at 11:45 PM GMT. Direct
buy-in to the tournament is $198+19.80, or you can win your seat in a feeder
tournament - single-table satellites are $24.20+2.42, while multi-table
satellites run nightly at 11:45 PM GMT for $3+.15. The $12,500 prize package
includes the $10,200 buy-in and $2,300 for expenses.
The main event at Commerce Casino's LA Poker Classic begins on February 16th,
and Doyle's Room Satellites for this WPT event will begin as soon as the WPO
satellites have ended. The super satellite will be held on Saturday, February
4th, at 11:45 PM GMT, with a buy-in of $198+19.80. Satellites to this
tournament are available as always, with single-table tourneys running for
$24.20+2.42 and nightly multi-table satellites at 11:45 PM GMT featuring a
buy-in of $3+.15. The prize package is identical to the WPO package - a
$10,200 buy-in and $2,300 for expenses.
In addition to the WPT satellites, Doyle's Room is getting a jump on the World
Series of Poker this year, kicking off its satellites to the biggest
tournament in the world at the end of January.
The WSOP Main Event will be held at the Rio in Las Vegas from July 28th to
August 10th. Rebuy super satellites for the Main Event begin on Saturday,
January 14th, at 11:00 PM GMT, and will run at that time every Saturday from
then on. The direct buy-in for this super satellite is $198+9.90; single-table
