Here are some of this month's tournament happenings at InterPoker and
UltimateBet. InterPoker On Sunday, January 22nd, InterPoker will be holding its biggest tournament ever. The $500,000 guaranteed prize pool is enough reason for most tournament players to get involved, but to make things even better InterPoker is doing something special - they're guaranteeing an overlay. At 2:00 PM ET on the 22nd, the $500+30 buy-in tournament will kick off, and if more than 999 players register for the tournament InterPoker will award a seat at the European Poker Tour's €4000 French Open in Deauville, France. If a guaranteed overlay sounds good but you still want to win your way into the tournament, you're in luck - there's a full slate of satellites to the $500,000 Guaranteed. Qualifying $11+1 tournaments run daily at 9:15 and 11:45 AM and 2:45 and 5:15 PM ET, while $9+1 qualifiers run daily at 6:00, 7:45, and 9:30 PM ET. Super satellites with a $70+7 buy-in run every Tuesday and Friday at 5:00 PM ET, while $53+5 super satellites run every Wednesday and Saturday at 8 PM ET. Finally, there are sit-and-go qualifiers available as well. For $70+7 you can enter a 10-man sit-and-go tournament, with the $500+30 tournament buy-in going to 1st place and $85 going to both 2nd and 3rd place. If you prefer shorthanded play, a 6-man sit-and-go is available for $110+7, with 1st place winning the $500+30 buy-in and 2nd place winning $130. InterPoker is also currently hosting satellites for the EPT Deauville French Open, although they'll closing very soon. Multi-table satellites to the final are running at 4:45 PM ET daily, with a buy-in of €33+3. The EPT Deauville Final will run at 2:00 PM ET on January 7th, with a buy-in of €333+22. UltimateBet UltimateBet is giving away a chance at winning a VIP World Series of Poker prize package for only $5, and if you act quickly you can get in on the action. Qualifying tournaments with a $5+0 buy-in are being held 4 times daily through the 9th of January, with the top 25 finishers in each tournament moving on to the final. At 9:00 PM ET on January 9th, the 450 qualifiers from the daily tournaments will face off to determine the 3 players from UltimateBet who will play live at Bellagio in Las Vegas for the VIP WSOP prize package. The final prize package includes a first-class flight to and from Las Vegas, deluxe accommodations throughout the WSOP main event, $25,000 to buy in to other WSOP events of the winner's choice, an Ultimate Poker Player Pack (including an iPod, Bose headphones, and Hellmuth Oakley sunglasses), and a $5,000 travel allowance for other events. Full info on the tournament times and structures is available here. The team at UltimateBet is taking advantage of poker's popularity with television audiences this year with its new UltimateBet Poker Challenge. This new series will begin airing on FOX Sports Net on January 15th, featuring 6 players each week in a winner-take-all match for $10,000. The winner each week will qualify for the Championship Event, which will be broadcast on February 19th and will award the winner $200,000. Players who win their way into a weekly taping will receive airfare to and from Los Angeles, where they will stay at the Renaissance Montura Hotel and play at Hollywood Park Casino. Three of the players in each episode of the UltimateBet Poker Challenge are guaranteed to be players from the $5+0 qualifying tournaments being held at UltimateBet. These qualifiers run 6 times daily at UltimateBet throughout each week, and the final 25 players in each qualifier move on to a weekly final held at 9:00 PM ET each Monday starting January 9th. There is no other way to enter this weekly final - you have to qualify through one of the $5+0 satellites. The top 3 finishers of each weekly final will be awarded a seat at that week's taping of the UltimateBet Poker Challenge in Los Angeles, with the 4th place finisher filling in if one of the winners is unable to go to Los Angeles.
