In the first part of this article we took a look at some of
the tournaments being held in September at UltimateBet, PokerStars, and Empire
Poker. Let's cruise around and see what else is happening this month at the
card rooms around the net.
Full Tilt Poker
In the short time it's been around Full Tilt Poker has gained a reputation for
holding unique promotions, like its "Piece of the Pros" tournaments that gave
a percentage of different Full Tilt pros' WSOP winnings to qualifiers, and its
guarantee of an extra $10 million to any Full Tilt qualifier who won the WSOP
Main Event. This month's promotion at Full Tilt might not be worth as much
money as those early promotions, but it's definitely unique. "Jersey Days"
gives you the chance to win a fully customized Full Tilt Poker football
jersey, like the ones the Full Tilt pros wore at the WSOP this year. Rather
than buying directly into the tournaments, you have to use Full Tilt points
you've accumulated through play there to sign up. These are the same Full Tilt
points you accumulate while clearing out the sign-up bonus, so if you haven't
played at Full Tilt before this is a great time to start. SNG satellites to
the Jersey Days tournaments cost 300 Full Tilt points, and the actual
tournaments run at 4:00 PM ET every Saturday in September.
Full Tilt is another of the poker rooms that's running hurricane relief
tournaments. For $20+10, you can play with the pros in a tournament to help
the American Red Cross help those in the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
The tournament will be running on Sunday, September 4th at 9:15 PM ET. Full
Tilt will match each $10 fee 100% - so for every player in the tournament, $20
will go to the Red Cross.
PokerRoom
This month, PokerRoom is holding three-stage qualifying tournaments for the
Bellagio Five-Diamond Classic in Las Vegas in December. Stage 1, a $5+.50
buy-in tournament, awards an entry into the Stage 2 tournament for every nine
players. These tournaments have 12-minute levels, a starting stack of 1500,
and are held nine times daily. Stage 2, a $42+3 buy-in, gives away one ticket
to the Stage 3 main event for every ten players. The Stage 2 tournaments have
15-minute levels, a starting stack of 1500, and are held four times daily.
Finally, the Stage 3 main event tournaments have a $400+20 entry and award one
$18,500 WPT prize package for every 45 players. These tournaments, which run
every Saturday at 6:00 PM ET, have 15-minute levels and a starting stack of
2500.
PokerRoom is also holding two hurricane relief tournaments, on September 10th
at 2 PM ET and September 11th at 5 PM ET. For each of these $20+0 tournaments,
PokerRoom will donate a sum equal to the prize pool to the American Red Cross
Disaster Relief Fund. The card room will also ask the winners whether they
would like to donate part or all of their winnings to the Red Cross, and add
any of that money to its total donation.
Pacific Poker
Pacific Poker is the exclusive home of qualifying tournaments to the UK Poker
Open, which Pacific bills as "Europe's richest televised poker tournament."
The guaranteed prize pool for this tournament is $1.08 million, and first
prize is worth $500,000. Multi-table satellites to the UK Open II qualifier
tournaments run 13 times daily, for buy-ins as small as $5+.50, and award one
seat into the qualifier for every $110 in the prize pool. Sunday through
Friday, there is also a freeroll tournament once a day that awards entry into
a $10+1 satellite. If multi-table satellites aren't your style, you can try a
single-table qualifier any time of day. The target of all these satellites,
the $100+10 UK Open II Qualifier tournament, is held every Saturday at 2 PM
ET, and awards one seat in the UK Open II for every $12,500 in the prize pool.
The $12,500 prize package includes the $10,000 tournament entry and $2,500
toward accommodations and travel to the tournament site in London. For more
